DayZ Standalone Zombie Mo-Cap Session Features Rocket In A Sex Party
A new developer diary from the team working on DayZ has emerged and it features 21 minutes of behind-the-scenes footage of Dean “Rocket” Hall and crew recording new animations for the zombies for the upcoming standalone version of DayZ. I don't want to give away too much, but the part where “Rocket” starts having zombie sex with a prop is when the laugh out loud moments become too impossible to withhold.
It's been noted many times before that the standalone version of DayZ will need to have many of its features completed restructured from scratch, including the zombie animations. Perhaps this will also mean no more Olympic sprinters from Kenya wearing eastern-European garb and pretending to be zombies?
Check it out below.
I like how they talk about the zombies fitting certain themes and situations. I imagine when you're in those tight corners or small houses the tension will be a lot different than when you're an open-field. The DayZ mod actually captured a nice atmosphere for the zombies because it felt like you really had to survey your surroundings before doing anything. Playing with a few friends and having to ration supplies and come up with a strategy before entering a city or heavily populated area was always tension-filled situation that also managed to capture a lot of fun.
I really do hope that in the process of retooling some things that it doesn't break the immersion factor from the original mod. So far, I'm liking what I'm seeing, and I imagine in time we'll see how well this all comes together in the standalone.
DayZ is currently prepping and going through limited alpha testing. You can look for Dean “Rocket” Hall to let loose testing keys on his official twitter account.
