If you buy the Xbox One at launch, you'll be able to get Day One editions of select XB1 exclusives. Today Microsoft gave a run-down on the special DLC included with the Day One versions of Ryse, Forza Motorsport 5 and Dead Rising 3.
The Dead Rising 3 Day One Edition includes the Tribute Pack. This DLC is pure fan service. It unlocks an outfit modeled after Dead Rising protagonist Frank West, along with a new skill move and a bat wrapped with barbed wire. Attribute perks to boost melee damage and survivors' durability are also included. The other outfit in the Tribute Pack is inspired by Chuck Greene of Dead Rising 2. It comes with the Paddle Saw weapon as well as attribute perks for weapon and vehicle durability.
You can get 13 bonus vehicles for Forza 5 by pre-ordering the $79.99 Limited Edition. If you opt for the $59.99 Day One Edition, though, you'll get these three cars:
- 2010 Audi TT RS Coupe – Stuffed stem to stern with modern tech, the TT RS is the first TT model to carry Audi’s famed RS badge – a distinction that’s earned on the track from the moment you step on the gas.
- 2013 Ford Focus ST -- Debuting with the same 250-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost engine from the much larger Ford Explorer SUV, the new Ford Focus ST packs a serious punch.
- 2011 Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera – Like great sculpture, the Superleggera’s chiseled form is carefully considered for maximum impact. That’s where the similarities end, however, because this work of art is best appreciated when it’s moving at top speed.
Ryse: Son of Rome's Day One DLC is for the Gladiator co-op mode. Players will get exclusive access to the Legionnaire's Trust sword, a blade forged in the Swiss Alps that confers attribute bonuses on its wielder. A new "Ruins" map pits players against Barbarian hordes. This arena is said to evolve during the match to present players with new objectives and obstacles. If you own the Day One Edition, you'll be able to invite friends with the Standard Edition to play "Ruins" with you.
The Day One Editions available for pre-order in limited quantities through retailers. Alternately, you can download them through Xbox Live for the first two weeks after the console's launch. The boxed copies have minimalist, black-and-white cover art that you can see below.
The Xbox One will launch with 23 games this November. The console will be available in 13 countries at launch and then spread elsewhere in 2014.
