Poor Raven Software. X-Men Origins: Wolverine shipped today and people are already bugging them about what they'll do next. Well, they've got an idea and it's a good one.
Wolverine project lead Dan Vondrak told UGO that they'd love to do a game based on Deadpool next. "We're huge fans of Deadpool. When we made X-Men 2, we made sure to put Deadpool in there and give him plenty of little Easter eggs and conversations. We love the character. His smartass attitude. So that'd be the guy we'd probably go after."
Deadpool, if you're not a comic person, is a smart-ass mercenary with superhuman regenerative powers like Wolverine. He appears briefly in the film/game but the comic version of him is substantially different. If Raven made a game based on him, Vondrak says it would hew closer to the comic book version. "What can I say, I'm a guy who likes the original stuff the most. I like my Deadpool the way he is in the comics. I wouldn't necessarily say that's exactly how he's used in the movie and eventually the game. It's a cool concept for sure. It's just maybe not the first choice I would have made."
Well, the fact that Deadpool's got regenerative health bodes well for a future video game. Developers love regenerative health. Ryan Reynolds (who plays Deadpool in the Wolverine film) has been looking to make a film based on the guy and if that gets off the ground, I suspect a video game adaptation will follow closely.
