Defiance Contest Could Put Your Character Into The Show

The first season of the Defiance television show may have wrapped up this past Monday, but the game is still going strong. And with a second season of the show in the works, a new promotion is underway that will allow one player's character to actually get written into the show.
In case you've missed out on all of this Defiance hoopla up to this point, it's a new sci-fi series that takes place within both a video game and a television show. The game launched a couple of weeks before the series premiere on Syfy, introducing players to the show's main characters. They literally drove out of the video game and into the TV series, continuing the story between the two mediums. Throughout the past few months, similar cross-over events have occurred between the show and the game. A doctor on the show, for instance, said she had a friend in the San Fran area who might be able to provide some much-needed meds. Throughout the next week in the game, players could take part in a series of missions that would have them procuring said medicine.
But now that the story from the show has been left in suspended animation while the writers plot out the next season, the game is still rolling full steam ahead, offering new content, missions and stories that will bridge seasons one and two.
One such special event is called “Play the game, join the show,” and, according to Trion Worlds, it will allow one lucky Defiance player to have their character from the MMO shooter inserted into the season two storyline.
Full details can be found on the official website, but the basic gist of it is this: The cross-over content from the first season of the show has been re-opened within the game, giving players a second chance to tackle all of those unique extra storylines and missions. Players can tackle those missions between now and July 30 for fun and, in the meantime, the top 10 players who complete the most arkfall events during that timeframe will qualify for a chance to have their character appear on the show.
The final selection will be made via a voting process on Facebook with the top five characters being submitted to the writing staff at Syfy. Lead creator Kevin Murphy will then decide which of those characters he would like to see appear in season two.
Just a reminder that you still need to register for the event, which can be carried out on the official website linked above. The finalists will be announced on Aug. 9 via Facebook with the winner being selected by Sept. 15. To all of you out there in the Badlands, happy ark hunting.
