Defiance History Chronicled In Newspaper Clippings
Those looking to jump into Trion Worlds’ upcoming third-person shooter MMO, Defiance, next week will likely want to bone up on the history of the new online world they’re about to call home. Luckily, some creative folks have already started building up Defiance’s history, which can be found in the form of a handful of nifty articles leading up to the game’s events.
Launching a new MMO like Defiance can be a tricky thing, especially if said MMO takes place in the rarely used shooter genre. There’s a whole world (or universe, really) to establish, which means oodles of storylines to work out, history to create, characters to develop, etc. And all of that needs to work within the setting of a shooter.
Luckily for soon-to-be fans of Defiance, a lot of those details will be hashed out in the game’s companion television show airing on the Syfy channel starting April 15. It’s not often that a game’s world is further evolved an hour at a time on a weekly basis, which should help make the experience that much more interesting to dive into.
But if you’re already chomping at the bit to learn more about the world of Defiance, you can also check out several stories and advertisements set within the game/show’s world through a unique Tumblr page called “Defiance News.” Everything from the arrival of aliens on planet Earth to the conflict that led to the planet’s near destruction is chronicled in the form of news clippings written over the course of about 12 years.
And if you’re in the mood for even more Defiance details, you can also check out our hands-on preview of the beta, take a look at the game’s unique weaponry and even peruse information about upcoming DLC and its season pass.
Ark Hunters can dive into Defiance next Tuesday, April 2, on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
