Atlus previously pledged to keep the servers for PS3 RPG Demon's Souls online until March 2011. Now they've reassured gamers that the servers will live on much longer than that.
Souls is a mostly single-player RPG that's enhanced by online features. Players can leave helpful notes for each other in the game world. They can also jump into another player's game to either assist or attack them. You can play offline but it does remove some of the flavor of the game.
The US servers will keep running at least until the game's second anniversary. In other words, you should have until October 2011 to interact with other players. It's possible they'll extend that deadline once again, though.
"We will support the online servers for Demon's Souls as long as we possibly can, and we'll be as transparent about the entire process as possible, hence us constantly updating folks as to what to expect," said Atlus's Aram Jabbari.
From December 20th until the next year, Atlus will be holding a Pure White World Tendency event in the game. Do you have no idea what that means? Well, you can pick up the game for $29.99 now that's part of the PS3 Greatest Hits Collection.
