It's possible that long-awaited action RPG Diablo 3 will be hitting stores next month. A few retailers are listing the game's street date as April 17th.
MMORPG Italia noticed the date listed at Amazon.com Italy. GameStop in the UK mentioned the very same date. They also confirmed with Mediaworld that the game will be arriving in April.
Amazon.com has since removed that date from its listing. You can debate the significance of that move. It's possible that they either realized the date was wrong and removed it, or Activision yelled at them to take it down once the news began to swirl. Either explanation seems plausible.
One thing is certain, though: Blizzard is close to announcing the game's launch date. A couple weeks ago they said we should "seriously expect" an announcement soon. Game director Jay Wilson reiterated that over Twitter this weekend.
Activision Blizzard announced during its last quarterly report that D3 would be released between April and June. April 17th would obviously fit that estimate. Personally, I interpreted "between April and June" as meaning "June 30th" but I'd be happy to be proven wrong.
