This weekend at BlizzCon, Blizzard revealed that they will be offering a Collector's Edition of Diablo III. The action RPG comes with a load of real and virtual items that should please a wide range of Blizzard fans.
Your copy of D3 will be accompanied by a Soulstone-shaped USB thumbdrive. On this 4GB drive is a copy of Diablo II and its sole expansion, Lord of Destruction. You'll also get a small replica of Diablo's skull with a hole to store the drive.
Also included in the box is a 208-page art book with both concept art and final 3D renderings of the sights of D3. A two-disc DVD/Blu-ray set contains over an hours' worth of interviews with the developers, who shed some light on how they constructed the game. The last physical offering is a CD with 24 original pieces from the game's soundtrack.
Cosmetic items for three Blizzard games are included as well. For Diablo III, the CE will give you an exclusive banner, angel wings, and two sets of armor dye. World of Warcraft players will unlock an exclusive Fetish Shaman Pet. You'll also get StarCraft II unit decals and three Diablo-themed Battle.net portraits.
"The Diablo III: Collector’s Edition will be available exclusively at retail on DVD-ROM for Windows XP / Windows Vista / Windows 7 and Macintosh. The release date, suggested retail price, and other details for this game will be announced in the months ahead," says Blizzard.
Retailers are now accepting pre-orders for the CE. Amazon lists the bundle at $99.99 currently.
