Today Nintendo announced that they're remaking co-op side-scroller Donkey Kong Returns for the 3DS. Donkey Kong Returns 3D will arrive on the handheld sometime this summer.
Donkey Kong Returns was originally released for the Wii back in 2010. In the game, creatures known as Tikis have taken over Donkey Kong Island. Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong traveled across eight different worlds to recover their bananas and pummel the dastardly Tiki Tak Tribe.
Returns 3D adds stereoscopic 3D visuals to the game. Nintendo didn't mention whether that's the only change from the Wii version or not. You'd hope there's some extra content tucked away in there somewhere.
The first trailer for Returns 3D is below. To see the game in the elusive third dimension, watch the trailer through the Nintendo eShop on your 3DS.
