Ok, I want a show of hands: Who loves lightsabers? Ok, once again: Who here has ever pretended to use the Emperor Palpatine lightning fingers move on their friends? One last time. Who in their right damn mind doesn’t wish they could use the force? If you answered, “not me,” to all of these questions, then you have nothing but my complete, most thorough disdain.
For the rest of us though there’s a brand new trailer that shows off a damn good chunk of the upcoming Star Wars game, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Basically the whole game appears to be the fruition of The Star Wars Kid’s wet dreams. In the game you roam from place to place…ripping ships apart with your force powers; frying things with your lightning fingers; and stabbing things.
We all know how Star Wars action games tend to turn out though, and I refuse to be anything but cynical at this point. However, this game looks like it might turn out half decent after all. My only concern is the possibility of a lack of force powers. I mean it’s an action game so that rules out Jedi mind control. What does that leave you with? Lightning fingers and force pushes. Hope they come up with some more stuff. Oh and by the way, rumor has it that this game is actually being consider real Star Wars canon. So you have no choice to play it if you want to fully understand the story.
