One of the games THQ will be showing off at E3 is the fourth entry in the Red Faction series. Today they unveiled the first trailer for this new project, dubbed Red Faction: Armageddon.
Armageddon returns to Mars decades after the end of Guerrilla. The surface of the planet has been turned into a wasteland and the remaining humans are forced to live underground. Once they settle into the planet's long-abandoned mines, though, they realize they're not alone. Something else lives down there and it's not human.
The last RF installment, Guerrilla, was a destruction-based sandbox. Armageddon doesn't seem to be in that vein at all; it's got more of a survival horror vibe. Perhaps the game's more open-ended than the trailer indicates, though.
Armageddon is being developed for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. Its release is currently scheduled for March 2011.
