No, Team Ico's The Last Guardian isn't a PS4 launch title. In fact, Sony has no idea when it'll be released. Jack Tretton, Sony Computer Entertainment of America's CEO and President, said in a new interview that the game is currently on hold.
"We got so many projects out there from so many great teams, projects never ultimately go away," Tretton told GameTrailer. "So The Last Guardian is certainly not going away, but it's on hiatus right now."
Last Guardian, the third game from the Ico and Shadow of the Colossus developer, was first announced back in 2009. It was initially expected in 2011 but was then delayed several times. Designer Fumito Ueda resigned in late 2011 and the project vanished from the radar.
It was too much to hope that the game would reappear at E3 with a late 2013 or early 2014 release date. Still, the upside of today's news is that we at least know the game hasn't been killed.
