E3 2013: Titanfall Announced For Xbox One With New Gameplay Trailers
Microsoft, EA and Respawn Entertainment have announced Titanfall, the new generation first-person shooter where you head into battle, grab a mech and shoot the mess out of enemies. The two new trailers are pretty intense and showcase a nice look at the potential for future FPS titles.
The game is your typical good guy rebel group versus bad guy imperialist group, but the big difference is that the gameplay is all about maximizing diversity. You have the small skirmishes happening on ground level between jet-pack equipped storm troopers and then you have the titans – giant mechas piloted by experienced troops who lay waste to any and everything in their path.
While many gamers might draw parallels to Hawken and Planetside 2, the game has a much more visceral approach to combat about it. Players are tasked with traversing the city and wiping out enemy forces using typical high-powered, space-age weaponry as well as typical warfare tactics coupled with an ounce common sense.
I like what was showcased at E3 and the game has some potential. Whether or not this will be a nostalgic classic or another AAA blockbuster in a shoe box remains to be seen, but I'm rooting for Respawn after the two leads got sacked over that Project Icebreaker nonsense and denied their royalties from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
You can keep your chin up and your eyes on the information fallout by paying a kind visit to the official Respawn Entertainment website. The game is set for release on Xbox 360, PC and Xbox One in spring of 2014.
