Today ZeniMax Online Studios began accepting beta applications for Elder Scrolls Online. The developer says that the first testing for the PC/Mac MMORPG will begin soon.
The sign-up form is quite detailed. In addition to asking for basic contact details and system specs, it lets you specify your MMO and Elder Scrolls experience. You can also explain your play habits and provide information on your current MMO guild.
You don't have to provide all of this information. However, ZeniMax says that filling out all the optional parts of the application will increase your chances of being selected. A little meter on the side of the sign-up form estimates your odds of being selected based on how much you've filled out. Neat little widget, that.
Because the sign-ups just went live, ZeniMax's servers are getting slammed. The company via Twitter that they're working to resolve any issues related to the traffic. Maybe you should wait a few hours before you fill out your app to avoid having to re-do any of it.
Elder Scrolls Online takes place hundreds of years before the events of Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Players can join one of three factions battling for control of Tamriel. This war is depicted in a new "Alliances" cinematic trailer which you can see below.
The player factions won't just be fighting each other, though. They also have to contend with daedric prince Molag Bal and a range of other evils that threaten the realm. Expect to encounter all the monsters from the single-player Elder Scrolls games, and more.
ZeniMax didn't provide any dates for the beta. They promise they'll announce further details through the game's website as well as its official Twitter and Facebook accounts, though. ESO is scheduled to launch later this year so we shouldn't have to wait long for the beta to begin.
