Euro Virtual Console Gets Super Mario World, Ocarina Of Time
Nintendo of Europe has sent out a press release detailing their plans for the Virtual Console over the next few months. The list is rather impressive and contains a number of classics.
It’s kind of refreshing to actually get some assurance of quality content on the VC because after rushing to my Wii Monday morning to find that the only new game was Urban Champion, I started to lose hope. All that changed today when I learned about a number of the games currently being emulated for release.
The list includes Nintendo 64 classics Mario Kart 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Street Fighter II: World Warrior, Super Contra, and Super Mario World on the Super NES. Soldier Blade, Double Dungeons, and New Adventure Island will be brought over from the TurboGraphx-16. And to round out the list the Sega Genesis will provide Streets of Rage, Biohazard Battle, Comix Zone, Gain Ground, and Bonanza Bros.
Keep in mind this list is only for the European Virtual Console, but in all likelihood Nintendo understands America’s lust for retrogaming and is just trying to get us drooling. I can assure you that once these games are out in Europe it won’t take long for them to make it across the pond.
Virtual Console game prices start at 500 points ($5) for NES games, 800 points ($8) for Super Nintendo/Sega Genesis/TurboGraphx-16 games, and 1,000 points ($10) for Nintendo 64 games.
