EA Sports will be announcing FIFA 14 on Wednesday. The company released the first teaser image for the soccer simulator through their official Twitter account earlier this morning.
"RETWEET if you’re ready for #FIFA14 news tomorrow!" tweeted EA Sports.
The accompanying image shows FC Barcelona player Lionel Messi. Messi was the cover athlete for FIFA 13. Will he be featured on FIFA 14's cover as well?
FIFA 13 introduced a number of changes to the series. The A.I. was overhauled so that CPU opponents would be more dangerous on offense. Realistic ball control and improved player impacts were also included. The updated career mode allowed players to manage international teams. The new Ultimate Team feature allowed players to assemble "dream teams" made up of the best real-life players and then compete with each other.
FIFA 14, like other recent entries in the series, will probably be released in September or October. If so, that would make it a current-gen rather than next-gen title. The next PlayStation and Xbox are expected to arrive in the late fall.
It's a busy week for EA Sports. Yesterday they announced NHL 14, the next entry in their hockey series.
