A Few Banjo-Kazooie Details Emerge
Some new, and vague, details about the upcoming Banjo Kazooie sequel for the Xbox 360 have surfaced over at Rare’s site. The company has been having a hard time getting a great game out the door, all while suffering from their traditional delay disease. But at D.I.C.E we heard some form of confirmation the game is slated for a 2008 release, and now Rare is sharing some thoughts on the game.
According to Rare Banjo-Kazooie will not be a “traditional platformer.” At first you’re frightened by what the team might do but they alleviate some of the fear with the statement that, ”Banjo won’t be a shooter (unless we sell no copies like Ghoulies and out of desperation give him a gun for the next game) but it also won’t be a traditional platformer.” The head of the Banjo team goes on to claim that what they’re doing with platforming is a “brave gamble,” but he’s confident when we see and feel it in action we’ll call it brilliant.
And yes, they are working to have multiplayer. In today’s world that means co-op, but I also wonder if they’re going to use the Conker: Live & Reloaded online model for that aspect of Banjo. We’ll find out more as the info trickles in. right now we’re holding out hope that Rare shows something at the Game Developers Conference next week.
