Final Fantasy XIV won't make it to the PS3 this year. However, the PC launch will occur this September and today Square Enix revealed exactly when that will occur.
The PC launch date is set at September 30th. However, if you pony up $75 for the Collector's Edition, you'll get the game on the 22nd. Here are the full list of extras for the CE:
- EARLY ACCESS – Play six days prior to the release of the Standard Edition
- BEHIND-THE-SCENES DVD – Get an insider look at the making of FINAL FANTASY XIV with exclusive video content, interviews and more in this special documentary DVD
- SECURITY TOKEN – A FINAL FANTASY XIV branded Security Token used in addition to your regular password
- TRAVEL JOURNAL – Record your travels in this beautifully bound journal filled with pages of never-before-seen concept art
- RIGHT OF PASSAGE – Redeem a voucher to receive your fully personalized right of passage certificate, each stamped with a unique serial number
- FREE TRIAL – Free trial for a limited time
- BUDDY PASS – Invite a friend to play free for a limited time
- GAME DISC
- GAME MANUAL
Gamestop says the CE will be released on the 22nd but that description of the CE's contents makes it sound like early access will begin on the 24th. It's not clear whether that's a typo or if there's a two-day delay between the shipping date and the beginning of the early access period. If so, that seems like a waste.
If you're hoping for the PS3 version of FFIV, you'll have to wait a few more months. The PS3 launch is currently penciled in for March 2011.
