The first images for Halo 4 have finally surfaced. A lot of people were worried given that the game is due to launch this fall exclusively for the Xbox 360 and Bungie is no longer at the development helm, however based on the quality of the images I think it's safe to say that 343 Industries seems to know their way around the franchise.
Halo 4 is the first in a new trilogy of Halo games that focuses on the Reclaimer's adventures. The fourth game picks up where the third game left off, with Chief and Cortana floating out in the vast emptiness of space in half a broken space ship. The punk Arbiter managed to fly the decent half of the space ship back to Earth. Anyways, players will learn more about Forerunner technology and the species as they embark on a grand galactic journey to new space installations as well as new planets.
The screenshots below don't reveal anything about the story and all they contain are two different shots of the Chief standing there with a battle rifle, posing like he's some sort of heroic icon or something.
Anyway, the game looks fairly good. However, 343 feels it's the best looking game on the Xbox, according to the Examiner. I wouldn't go that far, as I believe Gears of War 3 maintains the "Best looking..." title for the Xbox 360. Still, Chief looks quite snazzy in the shots below and we'll keep you posted on additional footage and screenies for Halo 4 as they become available.
