Microsoft Flight, successor to the long-running Microsoft Flight Simulator series, is now available to the public. It can be downloaded and played for no charge through MicrosoftFlight.com.
Players will explore the skies above the Big Island of Hawaii. They'll have access to the amphibious monoplane ICON A5. The ICON A5 can be flown with an exterior or cockpit view.
Games for Windows LIVE will sell additional planes. Deluxe models, which have both cockpit and exterior views, will cost $14.99 while basic models with only exterior views sell for $7.99. You'll get the Boeing Stearman, a vintage biplane, for free just for signing into Windows LIVE. Here are the planes you'll be able to buy:
- North American P-51 Mustang (Basic Model): A historical fighter plane with strong performance characteristics, maneuverability and sharp looks.
- Maule M-7-260C (Deluxe Model): A rugged utility aircraft that is especially adept at handling take-offs and landings on rough, unprepared surfaces.
You can also get a single-engine Vans RV-6A by purchasing the Hawaiian Adventure Pack. The $19.99 Adventure Pack also unlocks the rest of the Hawaiian Islands for your exploration. It's the first of many expansions planned for the game.
