New Friday The 13th: The Game Video Shows Jason Hunting His Prey
Two new videos have been released for Illfonic's upcoming take on the classic horror icon, Jason Voorhees. The Friday The 13th: The Game videos were released as part of the game's appearance at this year's PAX East in Boston, Massachusetts.
As noted on Game Informer, the videos show Jason hunting down his prey, with the first video being pretty creepy, seeing a zombified Jason break through the door and kill the player. Check out the Friday The 13th.
The comment section has a lot of confused people wondering if what you see above is actual gameplay footage.
Well, one of the key promotional features for Friday The 13th: The Game is that Jason is being played by one player and the camp counselors are being played by other players as well. So technically that in-engine demonstration above is how a gameplay scenario could play out. The idea is to make it as intense and frightening as possible as players attempt to run, hide and sneak past Jason.
The iconic killer will have a slew of different ways to kill the teens, including the one you see above where he puts an axe to the teen's head. Another video from PAX East showcases an alternative kill where he takes a teen and smashes her head into the door repeatedly until her head comes off. Check it out below.

There are a couple of really important takeaways from both videos in case you didn't notice it, but Jason's outfits reflect the different stages of his undeadness. This was one of the features they mentioned would be present in the game's Kickstarter campaign.
Essentially, in the second video it's the Jason Voorhees from Friday The 13th: Part 3, which is where Jason was in a standard, clean hockey mask with a work shirt, jeans and black boots. This was the first time he was featured in the hockey mask after wearing a bag over his head in the second film.
You can see in the second video that Jason's garb is pretty clean-cut and the Crystal Lake killer doesn't look anywhere near as menacing or as scary as it did in later iterations.
In the first video at the top of the article, we see that the Jason busting through the door is from Friday The 13th: Part 7, where he came back from being drowned in Crystal Lake by Tommy Jarvis. This is why in the video at the top the zombie Jason has a chain around his neck and his skin looks distorted with parts of his bone and muscle showing through his tattered jumpsuit. I've always liked the look of zombie Jason because he looked the most frightening, so it's cool to see him make a return in the game.
You can look for Friday The 13th: The Game to arrive later this year for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. You can learn more about the title by checking out all the details over on the Kickstarter page.
