GSC Game World Makes Official Statement Regarding Closure
GSC Game World, the Ukrainian company behind the popular niche FPS series, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., finally unveiled their official statement regarding the company, their finances, funding, their products, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 and their future endeavors...sort of.
As promised over the weekend, GSC Game World has made an official statement following news that the Ukrainian government was stepping in to seize the company's assets. According to a tweet from GSC [via Blues]...
Uh, so yeah...I guess that explains their situation real nice. I guess...sort of. Exactly what happens to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2? Who knows. They say they'll do their best to continue...whether that means development, seeking financial assistance, outsourcing, selling the rights to S.T.A.L.K.E.R, finding a new publishers, etc., etc., etc., no one really knows.
The comments aren't mysterious or enigmatic they're just vague and uninformative. For the most part, a large group of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fanbase are standing by idly waiting for some kind of confirmation on the series' future. For now it looks like we'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out and whether GSC can gain enough standing to pull themselves out of whatever bind they're currently in.
For those that don't know, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is kind of like this generation's version of Half-Life just without any of the refinement. Loads of potential, just lacking refinement. Anyway, you can learn more about the company and the game over at the Official Website.
