Gears Of War: Judgment Goes DOTA With Overrun Mode
If you like Defense of the Ancients style games then you'll probably like Overrun mode for Gears of War: Judgment. Yes, the game is evolving and apparently including stuff made famous from free-to-play cash-grab games. A new video tutorial gives you a good idea of how the mode is played and what the character classes do.
While the Xbox 360 and PS3 haven't been on the receiving end of a lot of multiplayer battle arena games or DOTA style games, I guess it doesn't hurt to include those kind of modes into already established franchises. Not only does including these game types into brand name games help expose console gamers to game types spawned from PC mods, but it also helps when publishers decide to make spin-off games of their own based around these concepts. It's sort of a win-win situation for everyone.
The Overrun mode in Gears of War: Judgment is pretty basic, with 5-on-5 bouts going head-to-head to either protect or destroy a key component. Check out the walkthrough below.
Looks all right. The map seems a little small for DOTA play, but that's always been one of the facets of Gears of War's competitive modes. The classes are also standard-fare, but I guess the best bet for success is to play it safe eh? The Locusts definitely seem to be the ones with the more interesting character classes and in this regard it reminds me of Natural Selection 2.
Gears of War: Judgment is set for release next March, 2013, exclusively for the Xbox 360.
