
StarCraft II might not get an open beta but there is a way to ensure a spot in the closed beta. GameStop is offering access to pre-order customers.
The offer applies to both online and in-store pre-orders. It doesn't matter if you want the Standard or Collector's Edition. The product page says that you'll get the code immediately if you place you pre-order at a store or within a business day if you do it online. In other words, you could get a beta code as early as today.
Blizzard has yet to announce a concrete release date for the full game so it's not clear how long this beta access will last. It's expected to be released this summer, though.
