Gran Turismo 5: Kazunori Yamauchi Talks About Starting From Scratch

A lot of console racing fans have been comparing Forza Motorsport 3 and Gran Turismo 5 for quite some time. But there’s a startling reason why it took so long for Polyphony to work on GT5 and it has a little something to do with them having to start from scratch with the latest Gran Turismo.
In a new interview with GameTrailers, game producer for Gran Turismo 5, Kazunori Yamauchi, talks about a lot of neat stuff for the game. He goes over how the team had to throw out all the code for Gran Turismo 4 and how they’ve been working from scratch for GT5, including an entirely new physics engine, which is always a tedious and exhausting task for a development team.
He also explains how the PSP version can interact with the console rendition – and vehicles that players unlock on the handheld GT can carry over into GT5 for the PS3. Awesome, huh? Definitely. It makes you respect their efforts a little bit more after watching the interview and you can definitely see the changes in the gameplay, in which I must admit that Gran Turismo 5 has slightly better vehicle physics than Forza Motorsport 3.
You can check out the new interview below as seen on GameTrailers. For more gaming news, updates, info and insight, be sure to stay tuned in with Blend Games.
