Sony may be gearing up to announce the next entry in the Gran Turismo series soon. The resume for a product marketing manager at SCEA mentions that they've been working on Gran Turismo 6.
"Managing the following titles and franchises at Sony Computer Entertainment America as product manager, handling strategic planning, day-to-day marketing activities, and lifecycle management: Gran Turismo 6 and GT franchise, The Last Guardian, MotorStorm, Journey, Carnival Island, other titles yet to be announced," read the resume spotted by NeoGAF. It's since been edited to remove any mention of GT6 - interpret that however you want.
The fact that Gran Turismo 6 is in development is not a huge secret. Last November, Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi admitted that very thing. The game wasn't demanding their full attention at that time, though, because they were still churning out updates for GT5.
It's now been several months since GT5 received new content, so presumably Polyphony has moved onto the sequel full-time. What's more, if Sony's marketing crew is now working on GT6 as well, it's possible that an announcement isn't far off. The easy guess is that Sony will introduce the game during their E3 press conference. They always love to have a surprise or two up their sleeves for that presentation. The announcements are why fans tune in, after all; they could give a crap about sales figures.
Though Polyphony has confirmed GT6 is in the works, they haven't announced any details. I think we can safely assume that it will feature cars driving on some sort of roadway. Said cars and roadway will look really good, too.
To find out more, we'll probably have to wait a couple weeks. Sony's press conference will occur at 6 PM on June 4th, the day before E3 officially kicks off.
