ArenaNet provided some additional details on the upcoming beta test weekend for Guild Wars 2. The weekend test, announced earlier this week, will run from April 27th to 29th.
During the beta, you'll be able to make multiple characters. You can choose from three of the full game's five races (Charr, Human, Norn) and eight professions. The reason they've probably restricted your selection of races is that each one has their own distinct starting area. Guess they've still got some work to do on the Sylvari and Asura starting zones.
Once you've gotten a handle on your profession's abilities, you can battle other players. In the game's four World Vs. World maps, three teams of hundreds of players will go to war with each other. Smaller PvP matches are also available for players who want a quicker battle with a tight-knit team.
"For the first time ever, we’re opening the metropolis of Lion’s Arch to beta players," adds ArenaNet. "Wander the streets of this cosmopolitan trade hub, chat with traders and travelers from every corner of Tyria, hop through one of the many asura gates to points beyond, or discover the famed diving platform at Diverse Ledges. Lion’s Arch is a city like no other!"
The beta kicks off at noon PDT on the 27th and concludes at 11:59pm PDT on the 29th. The only way to guarantee access the test is by pre-purchasing the game.
