Next month CI Games will give the world their first look at their upcoming action RPG Lords of the Fallen. Lords, described as a "hardcore" game, is in development for next-gen consoles and the PC.
"Our team is building Lords of the Fallen specifically for players who enjoy taking on huge challenges, where the odds are stacked against them," said Tomasz Gop, executive producer at CI Games. “From the very beginning, Lords of the Fallen will intrigue and satisfy players’ hunger to explore each corner of a brand new world, freely customize and build their own character and take down some of the most epic enemies ever seen."
Lords of the Fallen is set in a medieval fantasy world lorded over by a supernatural force known as the Fallen God. Some support this God, while others resist. The main character, a human named Harkyn, is part of the latter group.
Gop previously served as senior producer on Witcher 2. Lords of the Fallen shares some common elements with that game. Players will have to make important story decisions that alter both their character and the game world. There's also some talk of open-world exploration.
It's not clear what makes the game "hardcore." The press release from CI mentions advanced combat and deep customization. Is it just "hardcore" in the sense that it's a deep and complex game or that it's extremely challenging? Is this game meant as a challenger to Dark Souls 2? We'll find out next month when CI brings the game to E3.
