Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Eurocom are creating a game that pays tribute to all eight Harry Potter films. Harry Potter for Kinect will be available exclusively for the Xbox 360 this fall.
The Kinect's facial scanning technology will allow players to create a Hogwarts student based on their own image. This ugly, ugly character will then accompany Harry Potter and friends on a number of adventures. In some cases you'll take on the role of these official Potter characters as well. The game's also said to incorporate competitive minigames and co-op.
Like any student of Hogwarts, you'll learn to wield magical spells. Kinect enables players to cast spells by gesturing and saying spell names.
The combination of motion controls and spell-casting will invite many comparisons between Harry Potter for Kinect and the PS3 Move game Sorcery. The Potter license alone should enough to make the former outsell the latter by a huge margin. Hopefully those sales are backed up with quality gameplay as well.
