Blizzard has released video footage of a full match from the free-to-play game Hearthstone: Heroes Of Warcraft. Two players, controlling Jaina and Thrall respectively, face off in a nine-minute duel.
Hearthstone is an free-to-play collectible card game. Players pick a card deck based on one of nine Warcraft hero characters, each representing a different class. They must then assemble a set of minions, weapons and spells to use in battles. The game supports battles against both A.I. and human opponents.
Jaina is a mage, so she's able to unleash several different elemental spells. Thrall, a shaman, has offensive spells as well but can also play a support role. For example, he can cast Bloodlust to speed up his minions attacks or even resurrect them.
World of Warcraft players might have an easier time learning Hearthstone. Many of the abilities in the game are based off of WoW. Ice Lance, which causes additional ice damage if a target is already frozen, works in much the same way in the MMORPG. WoW experience will probably only help in the earliest stages when you're trying to learn the game's different spells, though, as Hearthstone has its own set of rules and quirks.
Hearthstone is in development for PC, Mac and iPad. To sign up for the beta, head to the game's official website.
