After Heavy Rain hits stores, developer Quantic Dream plans to release a series of downloadable episodes called Heavy Rain: Chronicles. Today Sony revealed that the first episode will be free for pre-order customers.
The Chronicles are standalone stories that follow one of the main characters from HR before or after the events of the game. Pre-ordering through select retailers will allow you to download the first episode, Heavy Rain: Chronicle One – The Taxidermist, for free. Each Chronicle will normally cost $4.99.
Taxidermist stars an investigation journalist named Madison Paige who's searching for a serial killer. The Heavy Rain trailer from last summer actually used footage from this episode. It will be available for pre-order customers on the day Heavy hits stores. Everyone else will have to wait until a later date to pick it up. A second, unnamed episode will be released after the game's launch as well.
