NetherRealm Studios has issued the official launch trailer for Injustice: Gods Among Us. The DC Comics fighting game will arrive worldwide next week on the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U.
Injustice depicts a sort of civil war between the world's superbeings. After a terrorist attack kills millions, Superman helps establish a tyrannical new government to keep society safe. Not everyone is happy with this new world order, though. Batman and others form a rebellion against this government.
The battles between the superheroes and supervillains take place in multi-level stages. Fighters can knock their opponents into different parts of the stage with a well-timed attack. Each stage also features a number of items that can be used as improvised weapons.
The basic objective in combat is to build your "super meter" and then use the energy stored there for special moves. The meter fills through combos or taking damage. When the "super meter" is full, the character can use their ultimate ability. For example, Green Lantern can throw a swarm of fighter jets at his opponent.
Injustice will hit North America on April 16th and Europe on the 19th. For last-minute pre-order options, check out the game's official website.
