Journey Sweeps The GDC 2013 Developers Choice Awards

Last night was a big night for video game developers, especially if you just so happened to be a game developer called thatgamecompany. The studio’s latest offering, 2012’s artistic and wonderful Journey for the PlayStation 3, took home six awards during the Game Developers Choice Awards hosted during GDC 2013.
If any of thatgamecompany’s employees were out of shape, chances are pretty good that they are now fit as a fiddle following six total trips to the acceptance podium during last night’s big awards show. The developer took home six of the 14 awards passed out last night, making tgc the winningest studio of the evening by far. As a matter of fact, no other developer won more than a single award on the evening.
Following is a list of the Developers Choice Awards winners for 2013. Along with Journey, several other indie games took home the big prizes last night, showing that style and substance is finally starting to outshine AAA budgets and annual rehashes of the same old thing.
