Just Cause 3's massive open world gives the developers plenty of places to hide Easter eggs. One of the secrets tucked away in the game concerns Thor, everyone's favorite Asgardian god of thunder.
The Easter Egg in question is located in the Insula Striate region, northwest of Montana. The coordinates are "N 40 48.566 E 5 40.859." Fly out there and you'll eventually find a crater in the mountains. Land in the crater and walk over to the middle to find Thor's hammer.
Unfortunately, you can't pick up the hammer. As any Thor fan will tell you, Mjolnir can only be picked up by someone it deems worthy. Apparently a secret agent that runs around blowing up everything in sight doesn't live up to those standards. Too bad because smashing tanks with a superpowered hammer kinda fits with the general over-the-top tone of Just Cause 3. After all, this is a game where you can hijack helicopters using a grappling hook.
The video above from Arekkz Gaming shows the player trying their damnedest to move the hammer. He tries shooting it and blowing it up to no avail. Then he tries to tether it to his helicopter to lift it. The chopper doesn't even budge, though.
"
I'd like to think that there's some secret way to wield the hammer. It's likely that the Easter egg truly is just an unmovable object. PC owners can take solace in the fact that someone will probably make a Thor or Beta Ray Bill mod eventually so players can grab the hammer and use it to wreak havoc.
If you think a super hero mod is too much to ask for, look at Just Cause 2. Mods for that game let players be a range of super-powered beings, including Superman, Spider-Man and Iron Man.
Just Cause 3's world is roughly 400 square miles. There are bound to be a whole lot of other secrets throughout the game. It'll be fun to see what else players can dig up in the coming months. Maybe they'll find Thor passed out in a field?
