Last Of Us Patch Removes Phone Sex Numbers

If you're looking for a good phone sex service, Last Of Us won't be able to help you any longer. Patch 1.02 of the PS3 exclusive removes functioning sex line numbers that were displayed in the game's world.

The numbers were listed on "Pest Control" advertisements. They were supposed to be fake numbers. However, a gamer decided to call them and discovered that they were sex lines.

"Mmmmmm. We're spread, wet and ready for you right now. Come on baby, let's play!" said the automated greeting on one of the numbers (via Kotaku). That was a bit of a shock to Naughty Dog, who didn't think the numbers actually functioned.

"That was an artist's mistake," Last of Us creative director Neil Druckmann told the website later. "What happened was, they put some phone numbers in the game and then they thought they could just change the area code to 555, then it's invalid because it's what they do in movies. But I guess that doesn't work when you have a 1-800 in front of it."

The patch notes for versus 1.02 simply mention that the "texture of a phone number on a bulletin board changed." It's sad that they decided to gloss over all the amusing details. C'mon, guys, own the mistake. It's funny! You like fun!

All of the other changes in the patch affect the multiplayer side of the game. You should see fewer connectivity issues during matches, and fewer disconnects during host migration. Crashes and general camera funkiness should be reduced as well.

A few tweaks for online play were included as well. Voting has been reduced to 15 seconds before matches. Melee attack range is now the same regardless of whether your opponent is standing or downed. "No party" playlists for Survivors and Supply Raid modes will let players avoid running into organized groups of opponents - not a trivial concern in Last of Us's unforgiving multiplayer.

Last of Us, released earlier this month, is set in the post-apocalyptic United States. A fungal outbreak has turned most of the population into rabid infected. A black market dealer named Joel must transport a teenager named Ellie through the cities full of bandits and infected.
