A new trailer for Naughty Dog's The Last Of Us premiered last night at Spike TV's Video Game Awards. In addition to providing more in-game footage of the PS3 exclusive, it also confirms the game's release date.
In Last of Us, the world's population has been decimated by a fungus epidemic. A middle-aged man named Joel and a teenager named Ellie travel through the ruins of United States, gathering supplies and fighting off infected. They'll also have to battle human survivors driven to desperate measures by the epidemic.
The trailer shows the military quarantine zone that Joel and Ellie originally lived in. It's not clear why exactly they decided to leave. I suppose they figure there's a better place to live out there.
Last of Us will launch on May 7th. It's not unclear if that's just the North American release date or whether it applies to other territories as well.
