At Captivate 2012, Capcom announced that they will release Lost Planet 3 in early 2013. This morning they sent out the first trailer and screenshots for the third-person shooter.
LP3 is a prequel to the other two games. Players take on the role of a utility rig pilot named Jim. Jim has traveled to E.D.N. in order to carry out a lucrative contract. However, he soon finds out that the job comes with its share of dangers.
The trailer gives you a clue as to what the gameplay will be like. Jim is being attacked by indigenous creatures known as the Akrid. After fighting them on foot for a bit he reaches a mech. He climbs onboard the massive machine and uses it to finish the battle once and for all.
LP3 is being developed by Spark Unlimited, the studio responsible for Turning Point: Fall of Liberty and Call of Duty: Finest Hour. This will be the first game in the series not developed internally by Capcom. Spark is developing the game for release on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
