You’re going to watch the video below (because you just can’t help watching more game trailers) and you’ll probably have the same reaction we all did. 2K Games has made a freakin’ amazing looking game with Mafia 2. More than anything we’ve seen before, the lip-synching is nearly spot on, better than what you see in many feature CGI animated films. But then that CGI term comes in, and we have to wonder if this trailer is running in-engine or not. We haven’t received confirmation one way or another from 2K Games, but our disbelief has not been assuaged.
For them to pull off the level in this trailer it can only be assumed that Red Bull was consumed in quantities that would keep a college campus stocked with Jager Bombs for at least four years. The programming involved has to be insanely complex; otherwise we’d see this level animation in every CGI character from Pixar to Dreamworks. But then again, who freakin’ cares? This thing looks absolutely stunning. It’s enough to make us forget our ideals on gameplay being more important than graphics, and just demand to play Mafia 2 even if it turns out to be a mediocre game.
