Klei Entertainment announced that they're going to expand their Xbox Live Arcade and Steam game Mark of the Ninja later this year. The Special Edition DLC will enhance the stealth side-scroller in several different ways.
"We built Mark of the Ninja to be a complete experience, both in terms of its mechanics and its narrative," said Klei in a press release. "But after the tremendous response we received, we felt we should do something special for everyone that supported us and the game."
In Mark of the Ninja, players take on the role of an unnamed ninja bearing a mysterious tattoo. This tattoo gives him special powers but in time will drive him mad. The DLC adds a prequel level starring Dosan, the tattoo artist.
Klei also wants to give players more options in how to approach the game. The add-on provides two new items that will be available in both the prequel level and the main campaign. A new playstyle with a nonlethal takedown will be unlocked for the full game as well.
The other big feature of the DLC is developer commentary. As you play the game, you'll hear stories from the game's development as well as some historical background. The commentary is available in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish and Japanese.
The Special Edition DLC will be released through XBLA and Steam this summer. The price hasn't been announced.
