BioWare has released the free Earth expansion for Mass Effect 3. The free multiplayer add-on is accompanied by a release trailer that will tug at what you Earthlings call "heartstrings."
While Shepard was traveling the galaxy to gather allies, the forces of Earth were working to slow the Reapers' destruction of their planet. Players will take on the role of these defenders in three maps across the globe. They'll have three new weapons at their disposal: the Pirahna assault shotgun, Acolyte pistol and Typhon light machine gun.
The Earth DLC provides players with six human characters to earn. The new characters - Destroyer, Paladin, Demolisher, Slayer, Shadow and Fury - each possess abilities as exotic as their names. The highlight of the trailer is when the camera pans across the assembled team, Avengers style.
The biggest criticism I leveled at ME3's multiplayer is that every match plays out pretty much the same. BioWare likely has no idea who I am but they've addressed this particular point in the DLC. The new Platinum difficulty level and dynamic escort missions seem like a decent attempt to spice up the action.
The new content should be available on all platforms now worldwide.
