Mass Effect 3's day one DLC "From Ashes" has been the subject of numerous arguments over the past few days. If you're not firmly committed to purchasing or boycotting the content, perhaps the screenshots will persuade you one way or the other.
"From Ashes" will add a new squadmate and associated missions. The squadmate only appears in one of the screenshots, though. It's just as well, because his identity is kind of a spoiler. Those of you who have been reading our coverage should know by now though that he's a - SPOILER ALERT - Prothean.
The DLC will be included with the Collector's and Digital Deluxe Editions of ME3 for free. Standard Edition owners will have to pay $10 to download the content. Because "From Ashes" is arriving on the same day as the full game, some have accused BioWare of exploiting ME's fanbase. It's the same drama that occurs when any game gets day one DLC. BioWare, for their part, insists that the content was made after the ME3 itself was completed.
ME3 and "From Ashes" will be released on March 6th in North America. The European release will follow on the 9th.
