BioWare formally announced the Rebellion DLC Pack for Mass Effect 3. Rebellion, first revealed through a leak earlier this month, will introduce a huge amount of content to the game's competitive multiplayer.
The Rebellion expansion adds two new maps for co-op play. Firebase Jade is centered around an ancient reservoir in the jungle. Firebase Goddess, meanwhile, is a circular stronghold in the middle of Thessia.
Even if you're playing on the old maps, you'll have something to look forward to. Waves 3, 6, and 10 will now randomly present a new objective. Players will have to retrieve a package and bring it to an extraction point before enemies can get their hands on it.
Expect a bunch of new customization options as well. Rebellion introduces six new characters (Quarian Engineer and Infiltrator, Vorcha Soldier and Sentinel, Ex-Cerberus Adept and Vanguard) as well as three weapons (Cerberus Harrier Assault Rifle, Reegar Carbine Shotgun, and Krysae Sniper Rifle). New items will provide player characters with persistent bonuses, such as weapon upgrades.
Rebellion will hit Xbox Live, PSN, and the PC on May 29th. European PS3 owners will have to wait until May 30th. It's free to download if you have an Online Pass for ME3. Yes, free. I'd say that "no one can complain about free DLC" but I expect a few "why didn't they release the DLC that fixes the ending first?" comments.
