MechWarrior Online Blasts Into Open Beta Oct. 16
Who, in their right mind, doesn’t want to jump into the cockpit of a giant mech suit and start wreaking havoc, destroying the landscape and waging mechanical war against fellow walking robots? The MechWarrior franchise is known for being one of the best in the business for providing those very antics and, come Oct. 16, MechWarrior Online officially enters open beta.
Infinite Game Publishing and Piranha Games have announced the impending beta for MechWarrior Online, giving players the chance to live out all of their fantasies of stalking around in giant robots, keeping track of a dozen systems and pushing about a thousand buttons to operate the dang thing.
For those who took part in the Founder’s Program for MechWarrior Online, your exclusive time with the game will come to a close at midnight on Oct. 14. Said Founders are now able to choose their tier of membership and get a head start on the beta competition by visiting the official Founders website.
“We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all of the fans over the course of our closed beta period,” said Piranha Games president Russ Bullock. “The amazing fans and the high quality of feedback given to our team have helped us craft MechWarrior Online into a true MechWarrior gameplay experience. We’re more than excited to open up the game and look forward to continuing to expand the InnerSphere with our loyal fans.”
In MechWarrior Online, the year is 3049 and players take control of BattleMech pilots at the heart of a massive interstellar war. Along with marching around giant landscapes and blowing stuff up, players will have access to all of the MechWarrior customization staples such as upgrading systems, replacing weapons and tweaking armor in order to make their mech a perfect match for their style of play.
The open beta starts in less than a week, so head on over to the MechWarrior Online official website to claim your pilot name and read up on all sorts of additional pre-launch details.
