EA is planning a sequel to their 2010 reboot of the Medal of Honor series. Medal of Honor: Warfighter, revealed in the latest issue of Official Xbox Magazine, will be coming to stores this October.
The existence of a Medal of Honor sequel shouldn't be a huge shock. The executive producer of MoH confirmed last February they were making a follow-up.
Like its predecessor, Warfighter focuses on the elite US special forces units known as Tier 1 Operators. Battlefield developer DICE, who handled MOH's multiplayer, won't be involved this time around. Danger Close, the folks responsible for that game's single-player, are now heading up both sides of the development.
The previous MOH game used two different engines for single-player and multiplayer. The entirety of Warfighter is powered by Frostbite 2.0, though. It's the same engine that was used in Battlefield 3.
The new OXM provides screenshots and additional details on Warfighter. Game Informer says that EA will also show off the game at GDC in San Francisco next month.
