Today EA formally announced Medal Of Honor: Warfighter, the sequel to the 2010 reboot of the military shooter series. Warfighter will be arriving on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC on October 23rd.
Warfighter once again lets players take on the role of the Tier 1 Operators, the most elite of the American special forces. In this game they're facing off against a global threat called the "PETN." The mission will take players to locations across the world including the Philippines and Somalia. The storyline was apparently written by actual Tier 1 Operators.
EA got a bit of flak for the terrorists vs. soldiers multiplayer from the previous MoH. This time around they're avoiding the issue by presenting the online play as a global competition. Special forces units from across the world, including the British SAS, Australian SASR, German KSK and Polish GROM, will face off in multiplayer battles.
Warfighter will be powered by the Frostbite 2 engine. It's the same technology that DICE developed for Battlefield 3. DICE won't be involved in making this game, though. Instead, development is being headed up by Danger Close Games in Los Angeles.
