The latest Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance trailer focuses on the weaponry at Raiden's disposal in the game. Raiden wears state-of-the-art cybernetic armor and his weapons are equally fancy.
There are seven blades available in the game. The default weapon is the High-Frequency Blade, a sword with alternating current that actually weakens the particle bonds of whatever it's cutting. Raiden can unlock new weapons and upgrade them using currency earned in the game.
The other weapon on display in the trailer is the Stun Blade. This sword can shock enemies with two million volts. This is enough voltage to stun cyborgs or A.i. alike for a few seconds, giving Raiden the opportunity to then finish them off. Two million volts sounds excessive but excess has always been Metal Gear's thing.
The best part of the trailer has nothing to do with weapons, though. About a minute in, we see Raiden dressed in "authentic civilian disguise": a sombrero and poncho. It's not a cardboard box but it'll have to do. Happy to see that the series' sense of humor has remained intact, in spite of the new developer.
Revengeance will launch in February. A demo is available on Xbox 360 and PS3.
