Indie darling MineCraft's beta, which began back in December 2010, is finally drawing to a close. Designer Markus "Notch" Persson revealed today that they've completed the full version of the game and it will be released on the 18th as planned.
"So, yes, Minecraft has gone gold," Persson tweeted this morning. He also included a picture of a group of USB flash drives, which he says will be used for installing the game "on a pile of computers at MineCon."
MineCon is a convention for MineCraft enthusiasts. It will feature building and costume contests, keynote speeches, and more. It will take place on November 18th and 19th in Las Vegas.
MineCraft is a sandbox building game. Players explore a world and gather resources before constructing whatever structures they can dream up. They must also avoid environmental hazards like lava and fight off monsters lurking in the dark.
