Telltale Games sometimes takes awhile to release new episodes of their adventure games. However, they've released Episode 2 of Minecraft: Story Mode just two weeks after the season's debut.
Story Mode is a Telltale-style adventure set in a Minecraft world. Players solve puzzles and advance the story through branching dialogues. They'll be periodically asked to make big decisions that can have an impact on later episodes. Unlike other Telltale Games, though, Story Mode isn't very dark or bloody. The game's actually rated "E" (Everyone) by the ESRB.
Episode 2, "Assembly Required," continues the adventures of Jesse and his friends. The group is trying to rescue their block-like world from certain destruction:
Another common criticism leveled at Telltale is that players' choices don't seem to matter as much as expected. However, the studio's promising that "Assembly Required" will be one of their "most divergent episodes yet." Maybe a second play-through will actually be worthwhile.
Today also marks the release of the Season Pass Disc for Minecraft: Story Mode. This disc includes the first episode of the series, "The Order of the Stone," and will also entitle you to download the other episodes as they're released. The Season Pass Disc costs $29.99 and is available on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, and PS3. Europe will have to wait until the 30th to get the Season Pass but will also have the option of a buying it on PC.
This new series comes as Telltale's other adventure games of 2015, Tales from the Borderlands and Game of Thrones, are wrapping up. Tales' season finale was released last week while Thrones will conclude in November.
