New Mortal Kombat Game On The Way For Xbox One, PS4
In a recent interview at Comic-Con, a little bit of news slipped about a new Mortal Kombat. Apparently the season two producer for Mortal Kombat Legacy, Lance Sloane, didn't get the embargo on the news like everybody else.
Warner Bros, the parent company who is currently involved with all things Netherrealm Studios, who is the development team behind the Mortal Kombat games and the recently released Injustice: Gods Among Us, usually keeps a tight lid on all their properties. However, this time around it looks like some important news regarding the next video game outing of Mortal Kombat was unintentionally let loose by Sloane at Comic-Con in an interview with GamerHub, as spotted by Original-Gamer. Check it out below just after the one minute mark:
For the hearing impaired and inherently skeptical, you can read the brief transcript of the answer from the Mortal Combat Legacy producer below, with Lance Sloane saying...
Hmm, interesting.
So I imagine there will be Mortal Kombat Legacy II, the new game and then the movie? Or perhaps maybe the movie and the game will arrive at the same time? It's kind of tough to tell from Sloane's brief comments.
The one thing that absolutely takes me by surprise is that the new Mortal Kombat movie is actually being aimed around the launch of the new game, as opposed to the new game being aimed around the launch of the movie.
It's kind of flabbergasting that Hollywood, in this one instance, is scheduling the movie around the game as opposed to the other way around, sort of like the terrible and rushed scheduling that plagued piss-poor games like Sega's Iron Man titles, the Thor games, the Green Lantern game... and most recently, the egregious R.I.P.D: The Game . I guess video games are moving on up in the world.

So far, Netherrealm Studios nor Warner Bros has made any official announcements about a new Mortal Kombat game for next-gen consoles, but I guess we can expect it to arrive just around the same time or close to whenever the movie is ready to launch.
The last Mortal Kombat was a reboot of the first three games and launched back in the spring of 2011, so it's not unlikely that the next-generation of Mortal Kombat for the Xbox One and PS4 could be arriving as soon as next year or sometime in 2015.
