Mortal Kombat X Delayed on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3
Sad news for seventh-gen console owners: Mortal Kombat X has been delayed to the end of June for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. Why? Well, that isn't explained but Warner Bros., made it known that the game has been delayed for the older gen systems.
Videogamer managed to get a quote from a Warner Bros., representative who basically laid out the cold hard truth, saying...
Videogamer originally spotted the listing on Amazon and noticed that the Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game had different dates than the Xbox 360 and PS3. In fact, they noticed that for the older gen systems the release date was set for June 30th, 2015. What started as a rumor ended up becoming a fact.
Unfortunately there's no real explanation for the delay. Could it be to help push sales along for the Xbox One and PS4 versions of Mortal Kombat X? Or could it be that High Voltage Software is having a bit of trouble getting things ironed out for the aging hardware and needed a little bit more time to work the kinks out of the machine? Warner Bros., doesn't really say but Videogamer notes that this wasn't the first time they've done this.
Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor was another title that had an intermittent release across the seventh-gen and eighth-gen consoles. The older systems ended up receiving Shadow of Mordor a couple of months after it appeared on the Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
With Mortal Kombat X, it at least appears as if the game is the lead on the new-gen systems and that's a really good sign. One of the things eighth-gen gamers have been craving for are games made specifically for the Xbox One and PS4. Cross-generation titles have the unfortunate problem of being limited based on the technical ceilings of the previous gen, but it appears as if NetherRealm is doing all that they can to raise the potential of Mortal Kombat X.
The game is shaping up to be one of the biggest games of the spring, sporting a robust roster of new and old characters alike. NetherRealm recently unveiled Sonya Blade and Johnny Cage as two new playable characters – fan-favorites that many have been asking for to make a return to the series. With their daughter Cassie Cage also being in the game, players will be in charge of the entire Cage family.

NetherRealm also recently unveiled Jason Voorhees as a playable character. He'll be one of the DLC characters included in the game and he was even on our character wishlist. It's funny because with Jason being added to the game hopefully they'll get Freddy back so we can finally do Jason versus Freddy!
There's also a rumor that Spawn could be making the cut as well. It would only be in NetherRealm's best interest to include Spawn into the game. He would fit in oh-so-perfectly as a guest character because Mortal Kombat X provides him with the perfect platform for his abilities.
You can look for Mortal Kombat X to launch for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC on April 14th, 2015. The game is due for launch at the end of June for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
